Sarf ~ Etymology

November 20, 2014

Sarf, i.e., etymology, a branch of grammar, which

helps in knowing the root words and conjugations.

The meaning of a word changes with the change in

the root and with a change in its conjugation.

Ibn Faris (Rahmatullah alaih) says, “One who loses the

knowledge of etymology loses a ‘great deal”

‘Allamah Zamakhshari (Rahmatullah alaih) mentions that, when a certain person set to translate the ayat- ‘

 يَوْمَ نَدْعُو كُلَّ أُنَاسٍ بِإِمَامِهِمْ ۖ

 (17:71)

call_with_their_leaders1

“On the day that We shall call each and every people

after their leader,”

he ignorantly rendered it thus: “On the day that We shall call each people after their mothers;” He supposed that the singular Arabic word ‘imam’ (leader) was the plural of the Arabic word ‘umm’ (mother). If he had been conversant with etymology, he would have known that the plural of ‘umm: is not ‘imam’.

Three persons are not blessed with complete understanding of the Qur’an:

It is stated in ‘Keemiyaa-e-Sa’aada’t’ that three persons are not blessed with complete understanding of the Qur’an.

First, one who is not well versed in Arabic, secondly, one who persists in committing a major sin or indulges in act of religious innovation, because these actions, blacken his
heart, which in turn prevents him from understanding the Qur’an. Thirdly, one who is a rationalist, even in the matter quranof faith, and feels embarrassed when he reads an ayat of the
Qur’an which he is not able to fully rationalize.

اللهم احفظنا منهم

May Allah azza wajal protect us from all such sins and evils, give us the Tawfeeq and Istaqaamat to understand Qur’an and implement on it. ِAameen.

IMG_20140616_155144_378Something for all of us to take advice from as well as ponder upon:

(Please do me a FAVOR by at least reading this once, even if you don’t feel like sharing it)
— I PROMISE it’s only a 5 minute read MAX.

We are given an advice by our pious elders in Tabligh once we complete 40 days that the time we have spent, the change that has occurred inside us, the goodness that we have learnt, is a gift from Allaah azza wajal that has been bestowed on us and us alone. When we go back to our houses, our families, our masajid, we need to have Sabr when we see people around us still doing things that we know they shouldn’t be doing. We are told, the reason is, we have spent 40 days (Alhhamdulillah), THEY HAVE NOT!

So we need to calm down, have patience, spend time with them, not completely ignore them while they indulge in those activities but find the time when softly we can guide them about what we have learnt. For an example, we are told, we cannot just tell them “HEY! This TV is the Devil Box! Don’t watch it! THROW IT OUT!” While we don’t watch TV ourselves, we still spend time with the family and find the right time, softly, advising them about the harmful effects Insha’Allah.

We see the mingling of non-mehrams in our families, sometimes in our own households. While we guard our sights and gazes around them and our sisters (who have spent time in jama’at) covering themselves amongst them, we still sit and eat with them, we still spend time with them while politely advising them and sharing with them what we have learnt in jama’at.

We see the women of the household not praying their Salaat on time, giving priorities to the household work, not covering themselves properly while going out etc. The men not going to the masjid, delaying their Salaat as well at home, watching TV etc etc.

We can easily become prey to Shaitaan, completely ruining our experience of those 40 days by pointing fingers, creating differences and distances, talking about them with others(Backbiting), sharing their sins and activities on social media and apps, giving Fatwas (as if we have all of a sudden become Muftis and Ulemas/ Aalimas) may just create hatred in our hearts as well as others. Doing that in a WORST CASE SCENARIO, we may just destroy homes and relations.

We don’t realize that we were in the same boat a few days, weeks, months or years ago when we were party animals, enjoying the haram activities. Allaah azza wajal chose us, and bestowed upon us HIS REHMAH, and ONLY DUE TO THAT we were able to attend those 40 days and amongst the company of the pious, we improved ourselves a little bit, day by day, by praying on time, zikr, tilawat, ikhlas with people around us, daily ta’leem, bayans, going out to remind and invite our fellow brothers to come to the masjid, getting up for tahajjud, learning the saleeqah of the household and manners of daily life according to the Sunnah. How there are separate places (arranged) within the households for men and women while non-mehrams are around and how the daily lives are conducted and dealt with.

Subhhaan’Allah!

Similar to the above, my dear brothers and sisters who go through overnight change, reverts, those who have a cultural to religious change, they need to do the same, they need to give space to the not-so-religious-practicing ones around them in the household, be it their parents, spouses, siblings or in-laws, not completely ignoring their activities but spending time with them and advising them whenever they find the right time. We are the Ummah of the Beloved Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) and we have this special privilege where we are ordered by Allaah azza wajal to do the work of the Prophets and the Companions Alhhamdulillah. (Enjoining good and forbidding evil)

We need to be soft-spoken, selfless, giving others their rights while forgiving our own rights towards them, sacrificing ourselves, having Sabr and more Sabr, instill the qualities of the Prophets and Companions within us, learning more and sharing the knowledge of the Quran and Sunnah. Having daily ta’leem in our households and making sure the children know the importance of ta’leem and enjoy it too.

May Allaah azza wajal chose us and our generations the way He wants us to be, working for His deen, striving for Jannah, and may we are amongst the Prophets and the Companions on the Day of Qayamah. Aaameen YA Rabb Al Aalameen.

New Doc 15_1

“Thus when the Muslims will reach Syria, the revolt by Dajjal (Anti-Christ) will occur. When the Muslims will be preparing for a war against him and arraying their troops, the time of prayer would come, Isa (alayhissalam) will descend in the meanwhile and will perform the duty of Imamat. (leading prayer)” ‪#‎Isa‬‪#‎Dajjal‬ ‪#‎Syria‬ ‪#‎AntiChrist‬ (Abu Hurairah (ra) ~ Muslim)

“(Dajjal will still be examining his satanic tricks on a Muslim when) Allaah will send Isa (alayhissalam). When he will descend on this earth, he will descend on the white minaret on the eastern side of Damascus Mosque. His body would be covered by two (reddish) dark pale coloured sheets (i.e., one on the upper side of the body and the second covering the lower part of his body) and he will be supported by two angels. When he would bend his head, the water will start trickling and when he will raise his head, the water drops will drip like pearls (i.e., he will be coming after having a bath).”‪#‎DamascusMosque‬ ‪#‎Damascus‬ (Hazrat Niwas b. Sam’an (ra) ~ Muslim)

Prophet Muhammad (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) is reported to have said, “All the Prophets are like half brothers in the principle of religion. The religion of all of them is same but the practical tenets are different. I am closer to Isa (alayhissalam) than any other Prophet because no Prophet came in between us. And verily he will descend on this earth. So when you see him, you should recognize him by his appearance, of medium stature, reddish white complexion, there will be two reddish sheets covering his body, it would seem as if he has just taken a bath and the drops of water are about to drip from his head like pearls. He will break the Cross and will slay the hog (i.e., will terminate the current Christianity) and will withdraw the tax and will preach Islam to the people and Allaah will exterminate all other religions during his time and only one religion i.e., Islam will be left, and during his time, Allaah will kill Dajjal. The good will prevail in the Universe, even so that lions and camels, cheetah and oxen, wolves and goats, all will be drinking together and the children will play with snakes without receiving any harm. Thus, Isa (alayhissalam) will spend forty years on this earth and then will die and the Muslims would offer his funeral prayer.” ‪#‎Muhammad‬ ‪#‎Islam‬ ‪#‎earth‬ ‪#‎Cross‬‪#‎Christianity‬ ‪#‎hog‬ ‪#‎slay‬ (Abu Hurairah ra ~Bukhari, Muslim, Musnad Ahmed, Sunnan)

Memorize, recite and share.

“O Allaah! Grant me a pure and lawful sustenance and keep me involved in good deeds.”

Recite 80x after Asr and leave the reward to Allah. My He Subhhanahu wa Ta’Ala Accept. Aameen Ya Rabb Al Aalameen.

Abu Hurairah Radiallahu anhu reports that the Holy Prophet (Sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) said, “Whoever recites the following Durood eighty times immediately after Asr Salaat on Friday, before standing up from his place, Allah will forgive eighty years of sins and grant him the reward equivalent to eighty years of worship.”

(Allahumma salli alaa muhammadinin nabiyyil ummiyyi wa-ala aalihi wasallim tasleema)

Translation: O Allah bless Muhammad, the unlettered Prophet, and his family and grant them best of peace.

#Memorize, #recite and share.

Imam Shafa’i Rehmatullah alaih was seen in a dream and he informed of this very durood that became a mean of his maghfirah (forgiveness) as he used to recite it every Friday night.

Also, reciting this durood in abundance on Friday night is beneficent to do ziarah (see in dream) of Prophet Muhammad Sallallaahu Alaihi wasallam. (Make sure you’re making wudu before going to bed)

May Allaah azza wajal accept. Aameen.

And will provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allah – then He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose. Allah has already set for everything a [decreed] extent.

Marriage is not a playground

Marriage is not a playground where the ego thoughtlessly pursues its vanities. It is an institution that helps a man and a woman pursue the purpose of their creation: to glorify and worship God and to work, within the extent of our capabilities and resources, to make the world a better place for those we share it with and for those we will leave it to.
