Quran and Hadith – How To Display Love… (Malik Shabazz)

April 12, 2012

Assalamualaikum (Peace Be Upon You).

In The Name Of Allah, The Most Beneficent, The Most Merciful…

People are always talking about true love and wanting true love in their life. Some of these people look at true love, from a diamonds, pearls and cars view. Some of them want lavish places to live in, so their whole entire lives are set with beautiful sunsets, dinners and the most extravagant outfits.

I’d like to tell you a few stories/hadiths about The Prophet Muhammad (Peace & Blessings Be Upon Him) and one of his wives Aisha (May Allah Be Pleased With Her).

Once the Prophet (Peace & Blessings Be Upon Him) was sitting in a room with Aisha (May Allah Be Pleased With Her) and fixing his shoes. It was very warm, and Aisha (May Allah Be Pleased With Her) looked at his blessed forehead and noticed that there were beads of sweat on it. She became overwhelmed by the majesty of that sight. She was staring at him long enough for him to notice. He said, “What’s the matter?”

She replied, “If Abu Bukair Al Huthali, the poet, saw you, he would know that his poem was written for you.”

The Prophet (Peace & Blessings Be Upon Him asked, “What did he say?”

She replied, “Abu Bukair said that if you looked to the majesty of the moon, it twinkles and lights up the world for everybody to see.”

So the Prophet (Peace & Blessings Be Upon Him) got up, walked to Aisha, kissed her between the eyes, and said, “Wallahi (By Allah) ya Aisha, you are like that to me and more.”

Another hadith/story

Aisha (May Allah Be Pleased With Her) said:

By Allah, I saw the Prophet Muhammad (Peace & Blessings Be Upon Him) standing at the door of my room, when some Abyssinian’s were playing with spears in the mosque. The Messenger of Allah (Peace & Blessings Be Upon Him) screened me with his cloak so that I could watch the spear-play over his shoulder. He stayed there for my sake , until I had seen enough. So pay attention to young girl’s need for entertainment.”

Another hadith/story

When the Prophet Muhammad (Peace & Blessings Be Upon Him) would have a meal with Aisha (May Allah Be Pleased With Her), they would both eat from the same plate and drink from the same cup as each other. What the Prophet (Peace & Blessings Be Upon Him) would do is, turn the cup where Aishas lip marks were left and would drink from that side of the cup. He would also make eye contact with her and then drink.

Another hadith/story

When the Prophet Muhammad (Peace & Blessings Be Upon Him) married Aisha she was young and slim. She one day challenged the Prophet (Peace & Blessings Be Upon Him) to a race and she won. As the years went on, Aisha grew old and put on some weight and was challenged to a race this time and lost.

Another hadith/story

‘Aisha (May Allah Be Pleased With Her) would often seek reassurance from The Prophet (Peace & Blessings Be Upon Him) that he loved her.

“How is your love for me?” she once asked.

“Like the rope’s knot,” he replied, meaning that it was strong and secure.

Many times after that she would ask, “How is the knot?” and he would reply: ” ‘Ala haaliha” “The same as ever!”

While today, we as young adults, old adults, teenagers look at love from a materialistic view. Thinking the world revolves around gifts. The Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be & Blessings Be Upon Him) had almost nothing in his house, barely any wealth in his name and when he did, he would give it away to the poor. While his love for his wives would never change. While his wives would love him the same even when he had nothing. Now-a-days, when we don’t have a gift for our significant other we shoot ourselves in the foot, thinking this marriage or relationship is going to be a disaster. While everyone is out buying gifts, I got nothing. You need to understand, expression is much more important than a materialistic object. If you continuously express to your significant other that you have love for them, that’s all that should matter. The Prophet Muhammad (Peace & Blessings Be Upon Him) in these stories/hadiths has displayed his love for his wife Aisha (May Allah Be Pleased With Her) and how they bonded together as a couple. They would express to each other how much they loved each other. Whether it was eating from the same plate and drinking from the same cup, screening Aisha (May Allah Be Pleased With Her) while the Abyssinian’s were playing spear, to racing each other. This is how love is and should be displayed. It shouldn’t be displayed in an object nor should be displayed with wealth. Understand true love and not fabrications that we are displayed with on a regular basis. Inshallah (If Allah Wills), we treat our husbands and wives and follow the “love” blueprint which was displayed by the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and his wife Aisha (May Allah Be Pleased With Her)… Ameen.
